Falaquera, Shemtov ben Joseph (Ibn Falaquera)
(c. 1225-95)
   Philosophical author. Born in Spain, he lived there and in the border provinces of Spain and France. His writings include a defence of Maimonides' Guide for the Preplexed, a compi-lation of ethical aphorisms, an introduction to the study of the sciences, an encyclopaedia of the sciences, and translations of sections of Solomon ibn Gabirol's Fountain of Life.
